Meet Paula Lessard

Paula Lessard is an author-illustrator who creates bold, graphic stories and illustrations rooted in joy, nature, and family. Her work is inspired by the storytelling traditions of children’s books, the visual rhythm of quilts, and the everyday beauty of home.

Paula’s stories are made for early readers—children just starting their journey with books—and her illustrations are designed to comfort and delight, whether in a picture book or a frame. She often draws on her love of quilting: layering color, shape, and story with a sense of warmth and hand-crafted wonder.

Raised in Maine and now based in South Carolina, Paula is influenced by her Lebanese heritage, her deep love of nature, and her 50+ year partnership with Paul, her childhood sweetheart. Her creative world is playful, poetic, and grounded in love.
